A Special Snack- Unicorn Fruit Cones

I came across a post yesterday which linked to another post by Real Girls Kitchen which held the recipe for unicorn fruit cones! I didn’t make this up, I just used her idea and what I had on hand. It’s such a cute and simple concept, but one that I knew my little chickadee would definitely go nuts for.

I told Aadelyn that if she took a nice long nap that she and I could make a special snack this afternoon.  Sure enough, she woke up after a couple of hours and said “Mama I did a good nap! Now we can make a special snack!”. Here is our take on the Unicorn Fruit Cone 🦄

Ingredients:

  • Ice cream cones
  • Chocolate chips
  • Sprinkles
  • Apple
  • Watermelon
  • Grapes
  • Blueberries
  • Mini marshmallows

Directions:

  1. Melt chocolate, coat the tops of the icecream cones and roll in or sprinkle with sprinkles.
  2. Cut up fruit, mix together with a handful of marshmallows.
  3. Fill cones and enjoy!

Aadelyn likes to help in the kitchen and this is something that she could absolutely help me with. She was able to mix (and taste test) the chocolate. Put sprinkles on the cones and fill them up.

She loves fruit anyway, but this made it a lot more fun! Isn’t it funny how fruit in a bowl is fine, but add a cone and some sprinkles and suddenly it’s special and pretty much the best snack ever!?

Enjoy!

    • Same! Mine did. Although she looked like a chocolate monster when she was done. Melted chocolate and a 2 year old is not a great combo! BUT she did eat all of the fruit 🙂

      • Jess absolutely adores fruit, she may even eat too much! And it goes without saying that she likes chocolate, although cow’s milk does produce a rash on her legs. I might switch the chocolate for peanut butter – I wouldn’t be happy with this substitution but devil child will be just as thrilled.
